Does the bible mention about mermaid has no spirit?

I do not mean to say this crazy stuff but I read the fairytale 'the fisherman and the mermaid'.............there are one chapter where the priest said to the young fisherman that he couldn't marry of the Mermaid because the mermaid has no soul, they are the demon and like to delude the guys to die in the sea..............if u know please answer?
