How do you get a shy guy to confess he likes you.?

Okay, there's this guy i like and i know he likes me, right? well one of my friends just attack him and starts going off, "omg, she's like in love with you, your all i heard about last weekend, blah blah blah blah." Don't you think this is kinda immature for high school? Well the sucky part is one of my other friends confronted him in 6th hour and did the same thing. So the guy i like went to the office and called his grandma to come pick him up because (i don't know this for sure) maybe he didn't want to wait with me for the bus like he normally does. My friend said since he's shy he's probably gonna run away like a 3rd grader just to think about things. hopefully thats whats going on because my self esteem is really low, but thats probably because i've only ever fell for the shallow guys in the past. I just don't know what to do. should i talk to him or leave him alone from now on? Since you've read this... I NEED HELP!!!
